About Tunnelwise
Tunnelwise is a plain-English VPN education site. We explain how VPNs work — clearly, honestly, and with original diagrams — without selling you a ranking.

What we do
Tunnelwise explains VPN concepts for people who want to actually understand them, not just be sold one. Each guide answers its question directly in the first couple of sentences and then explains the mechanism underneath, usually with an original diagram we draw ourselves. Our anchor is the explainer on what a VPN is, and everything else fans out from there.
How we approach it
We don't publish a "best VPN" ranking, and we don't run our own speed tests and dress them up as science. When we mention figures — audit dates, protocol details, legal status — we describe where they come from and note that they can change, because privacy and security are areas where a confident wrong answer does real harm. Above all, we keep one rule: we never claim a VPN makes you anonymous. It shifts who can see your traffic to the VPN provider, and we say so on every relevant page.
How we stay independent
Some outbound links to providers are affiliate links, which is covered in full in our affiliate disclosure. The short version: a commission never buys a recommendation, and we happily point to providers that pay us nothing — like Mullvad — when they're the honest answer. The evidence we care about is an independent, dated no-logs audit, not a payout.
